Manual Transaxle Oil level Check

Check intervals: 40000 miles / 4years (60000 km / 4 years)

If a leak is detected, leak repair and oil level check should
be performed.
|

| 1. |
Remove the under cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under Cover")
|
| 2. |
Remove the oil filler plug (A).

|
| 3. |
Check the condition of the oil and make sure that it is at the proper
level (A).

|
| 4. |
Install the oil filler plug (A).
|
Tightening torque :
58.9 ~ 78.5 N.m (6.0 ~ 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 ~ 57.8 lb-ft)

The existing oil filler plug gasket must be replaced with new
one. (Do not reuse it.)

Install the under cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under Cover")
|
|
The manual transaxle oil does not need to be replaced in normal driving
condition, but in severe driving conditions, it should be replaced every
80,000 miles (120,000 km ). Severe driving conditions are as follows.

Driving in rough road (bumpy, gravel, snowy, unpaved road, etc.)
|

Driving in mountain road, ascent/descent
|
| • |
Repetition of short distance driving
|
| • |
More than 50% driving in heavy city traffic in hot weather above
30°C (89.6°F) .

Police cars, taxis, commercial vehicles or towing vehicles,
etc
|

Remove the under cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under Cover")
|
| 2. |
Remove the drain plug (A), allow the oil to drain out and then reinstall
the drain plug.
|
Tightening torque :
58.9 ~ 78.5 N.m (6.0 ~ 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 ~ 57.8 lb-ft)

The existing oil drain plug gasket must be replaced with new
one. (Do not reuse it.)

Remove the oil filler plug (A).

|
| 4. |
Fill the manual transaxle with manual transaxle oil through the filler
hole.
|
Recommended :
- SAE 70W, API GL-4
• The list of transaxle oil approved by KIA: SK HK MTF 70W,
SHELL SPIRAX S6 GHME 70W, GS CALTEX GS MTF HD 70W
Quantity :
1.6 ~ 1.7 ℓ (0.42 ~ 0.45 U.S.gal., 1.69 ~ 1.80 U.S.qt., 1.41
~ 1.50 lmp qt.)

Make sure that oil level is at the proper level (A).

Install the oil filler plug (A).
|
Tightening torque :
